by Kipquinn
Name:
Kipquinn Briars

Race:
Half-foot

Age:
15

Appearance:
88cm (2'10") tall; brown hair and light blue eyes
Image

Personality:
Inexperienced, but determined. Clumsy and a little brash, though not in a mean-spirited or purposefully ignorant sort of way; Kipquinn isn't fully sure of what polite etiquette is and oftentimes will say what comes to mind without considering how it might be interpreted. That said, his temperament is fairly even and things that might offend or set off others of his race don't seem to trouble him much.

Skills:
lock-picking, disarming traps, elevated senses typical for his race

Background:
Originally from a war-torn area of the Southern Continent, Kipquinn was raised by a single mother and his two older brothers. His eldest brother began adventuring as a means of supporting the family, and Kipquinn intended to join him when he was old enough, but their mother protested at the idea of sending her baby off to do anything of the sort. When his eldest brother's career was cut short and he was sent home maimed and permanently disfigured, Kipquinn ran away to begin his own adventuring career with the hope of amassing enough coin to relocate his family somewhere safer.

Typical Role in Dungeon Parties:
picklock

Key Words About Kipquinn:
  • Size: Kipquinn is both shorter and lighter than is typical for his race, putting him at a considerable physical disadvantage in almost every category where it can serve as a disadvantage. However it does put him in a prime position to wriggle into smaller spaces than are typically accessible and to escape most situations where a larger individual is either more easily noticed or more easily targeted.
  • Experience: Although he is skilled at disarming traps, Kipquinn is considerably less skilled at detecting them; because he has very little real-world experience with them he isn't always sure of what to look out for, and because he's so much smaller than the average half-foot he has trouble even intentionally setting off pressure plates, making them very difficult for him to detect.
  • Tools and Equipment: When Kipquinn left home he took his brother's tools and satchel with him, knowing that any funds his family had would be better served keeping them fed and warm, and that his brother was in no shape to utilize his equipment any longer. Though not emotionally dependent on them or anything, these items do have considerable sentimental value to him.
  • Gender: Kipquinn is transgender, but ever since leaving home he's simply presented himself as masculine without telling anyone "the truth". It isn't a closely-guarded secret, but he does vastly prefer others not knowing this about him.
