ENVIRONMENT OVERVIEW
The third floor of the dungeon, sprawling, rocky and hostile. Adventurers have not yet been able to find the means to descend further, but the presence of monsters promises the existence of a way down.
Reminder: Although your first in-character thread in the dungeon can either be in the Plaza or on the First Floor, you must complete one thread on each previous floor to post in/start a thread below that one. After you have posted in each floor once, you can start a thread anywhere in the dungeon, but it's advised that your first post in the thread gives a quick summary of what happened to your character/their party on previous floors.
=======
TREASURE INSECTS (COIN BUGS)
Insecta SIZE 2-2.5 cm (before mimicry)
HABITAT 3F and below
A general term for monsters that disguise themselves as treasure, including coin-shaped bugs and pearl centipedes that pass themselves off as necklaces. These monsters test human greed: Dazzled by the treasure, adventurers get careless, and that's when they attack. As an aside, treasure insects themselves are bought and sold for substantial sums of money.
MIMIC
Crustacea
SIZE 45-70 cm
HABITAT 3F and below
A monster in the hermit crab family that disguises itself: as various items. For the most part it lurks in treasure chests, wooden crates, and other objects that attract adventurers' interest. When the victim triumphantly opens it, the mimic attacks them with its giant pincers. When young, they're only a few centimeters long. As they grow, they change their "home" to fit their new size, moving into bottles and jars just like a hermit crab.
MAN-EATING PLANT
Plantae
SIZE Varies by specimen
HABITAT 2F and below
A blanket term for plants that trap living creatures and use them as nourishment. There are many different kinds of man- eating plants, from those that can digest prey to those that are parasitic and plant seeds under the prey's skin. It's said that some people can't get enough of the exquisitely balanced pressure of the vines that trap them.
LIVING ARMOR
Shellfish
SIZE 170-210 cm HABITAT 3F-5F Empty armor that attacks adventurers. Various theories were developed about living armor: Some thought it was being externally manipulated, while others believed there was some sort of amorphous monster inside the suit. However, a recent discovery has revealed that they are actually colonies of mollusks that lurk in the armor. Multiple individuals link together on the inside, performing the functions of muscles.
BIG BAT
Mammalia SIZE 140-180 cm
HABITAT 2F and below
A giant bat monster. They're quite intelligent: They use their sharp claws to trap prey, drop them from high in the air, and then drink their blood. They're roughly ten times the size of the regular species and can lift a half-foot easily. They make their dens in the hollows of trees and hide away in them during the day.
GHOST
Undead
SIZE Varies by specimen
HABITAT 3F and below
Souls of the dead that remain in this world for one reason or another. They sometimes possess the living in an attempt to steal their bodies. Stolen bodies become ghouls for a time until the flesh rots away, turning them into skeletons. When even those have eroded, they turn into ghosts again and wander the dungeon. They're tragic beings, stuck in an inescapable cycle.
GHOST
Undead
SIZE 100-190 cm
HABITAT 3F and below
The bones that are left when a ghoul rots away. They can move around until they erode, but how long they're able to maintain the shape of the body is said to de- pend on the amount of calcium their owner consumed in life.
LIVING PICTURE
Magical Creature
SIZE Varies by specimen
HABITAT 3F and below
A type of spell that uses a picture as a medium. Anyone who approaches gets dragged into the picture. As an aside, it isn't possible to eat any food that's drawn in the art; it really is "pie in a picture." Because of this, surveys conclude that starvation is the most common cause of death among those who are trapped in living pictures, followed by
suicide and madness.
GOLEM
Magical Creature
SIZE 200-400 cm
HABITAT 3F and below
If you bury a core in a golem, it activates and becomes your faithful servant. Ordinary golems are made of mud, soil, or rock. Since their temperature and humidity stay at an appropriate level, it's been discovered in recent years that they can serve as high-quality farm fields. Golems are 99 percent soil, but it seems that the remaining 1 percent is often crushed human bone.
WALKING MUSHROOM
Fungi
SIZE 50-80 cm
HABITAT All over the dungeon
A blanket term for mushrooms that are able to run around independently with foot like growths. While not very dangerous as monsters, they're the first obstacle that stands in the way of new adventurers. Their cute appearance and unexpected complexity have earned them many fans, and there are associations of walking mushroom fanciers all around the world.
BIG WALKING MUSHROOM
Fungi
SIZE 200 cm-
HABITAT All over the dungeon
Giant walking mushrooms over two meters tall. They run their mycelia across the ground to propagate. Inhaling the large quantities of spores they emit clouds the victim's mind. Walking mushrooms also transform depending on the state of the dungeon and how far it's matured. In other words, when big walking mushrooms appear, it means the dungeon has grown far enough that the Canaries will be sent there very
soon.
HUGE SCORPION
Crustacea
SIZE 45-70 cm (head to tail)
HABITAT 1F and below
A monster that lurks in cracks in the wall and other dark places. It strikes at adventurers with its enormous pincers and its tail, which injects a neurotoxin. Because it tends to firmly grasp its prey first before striking with its tail to finish it off, you can use a stick to bait it and seal the pincers, making it a cinch to deal with.
UNDINE
Spirit
SIZE Varies by specimen
HABITAT All over the dungeon
A colony of water spirits. They aren't hostile to humans and are sometimes used as servants by casters. If harmed, however, they will strike back. They have enough power to kill a sturdy dwarf with a single attack. As an aside, man- drakes are rich in mana because they're nourished by water spirits as they grow.
