Environment Description: A place where corpses discovered in the dungeon are stored until they are revived. The room is actually an offshoot of the hallway between the Western Dungeon Entrance and the Plaza, but it was deemed suitable enough. Adventurers who enter from the west must pass through the Resurrection Office, and as such most adventurers tend to enter through the east due to this fact. The walls contain long shelves to store bodies in, most are empty, but some contain corpses. There is a wooden desk for adventurers to inquire about potential comrades and to drop bodies off at which is continuously staffed, even at night. The Head of the Resurrection office spends her time in this room more often than not, and if she is not at the front desk then she can usually be found asleep in one of the empty shelves.
As a note - Corpses discovered outside of the Dungeon are brought to the Corpse Retrieval building

[NPC REQ] The Usual
A lone figure shambles through the dungeon plaza towards the Resurrection Office, a tall-man with long hair carrying a pretty big bloody bag and staining the ground he walks on with small driplets of blood and dirt, the frequent residents and merchants barely pay him enough attention to shake their heads in dissaproval at the display.
"Melhera?" He calls out with a raspy voice as he knocks on the open door, scanning the room in search of the elf "It happened again..."
Nathaniel sighs, he would rub at his face in frustration if his hands weren't covered up to the wrist with monster blood, he hated that he was getting used to this; hauling up a dead party member from the dungeon for them to get resurrected after he inadvertedly got them killed before reaching the second floor. It was tiresome, painful and honestly a bit embarrassing once he reached the surface with the corpse bag and everyone stared at him. He was lucky that the main healer of the place was so nice and patient, otherwise he'd have to start saving up for the more expensive healers that went diving into the dungeon proper.

"Huh? Who?" A voice from one of the top shelves mumbled before letting out a loud yawn. A moment later Melhera's arm poked out of the same cubby as she stretched. The elf cracked her neck before shuffling sideways and then down to the floor, landing softly and patting some dust off of her dress as she walked towards Nathaniel.
"Sorry about that," she said rubbing her eyes in an effort to wake herself up, smiling warmly up at the tall-man as she approached. Melhera's smile faded slightly as she glanced towards the body bag he had dragged in, but it didn't dissappear entirely. It was a good thing she just had a nap.
"Let's get this a bit further inside, yes?" She said, grabbing the body bag and dragging it further back towards the shelves. Most people didn't come in through this entrance, but for those who did it was probably best to keep gore to the sidelines. She stretched her back again after she had finished dragging whoever this was further inwards.
"So, what happened?" Melhera asked, wiping some sweat off of her brow. "What got them? Do you know the exact cause of death? The time? Oh I do hope it was nothing spore related..." Every question she asked seemed to energize her a bit more. "Well, as long as it wasn't that, why don't you go ahead and open that up so I can get a good look at who I'm working with here."

Re: [NPC REQ] The Usual
Nathaniel blinked tiredly at the woman when he realized where she had been sleeping, he wondered if it was as comfortable as she made it seem, or if it was simply a matter of convenience, he wanted to try either way.
"'S okay, didn't mean to wake you up" he muttered a bit sheepishly as he noticed her looking at the bag. It wasn't all that heavy by any means, though that didn't mean the contents were any less important, so he was glad to accept her help moving it inside.
"Ah- it's kind of stupid, actually" He half-heartedly wiped his hands on his pants "I got carried away chasing a scorpion into a tunnel and they– well– you'll see..."
The man crouched near the bag, making quick work of the simple knot holding the end closed and revealing the face of a disheveled looking half-foot, stray globs of blood still sticking to their hair from being jostled around their own gore on the way here. As he lowered the fabric covering their body it became obvious that the poor adventurer had been crushed to death, the tiny caved in torso a helpful visual aid of that fact.
"Our healer said revival was- uh..." he closed his eyes and furrowed his eyebrows trying to remember, then made air quotes with his red stained fingers "'not their area of export-ice' or somethin'? So it was up to me to carry them here"
He went quiet for a moment, his tired eyes unfocused, before he quickly perked up and spoke rapidly.
"I-I did try to scoop everything back into the bag though! Even brought back the rocks with the most blood on them and all"

Re: [NPC REQ] The Usual
Melhera grimaced as the man opened the bag, though not because of the state of the body—was she really breaking a sweat from dragging over a half-foot? Maybe she really did need to start exercising more. She let out a sigh of relief when she saw the damage, a fresh body too, this should be relatively straightforward. Melhera listened as the man recounted the tale. She didn't want to judge, but the fact that their party's only healer wasn't equipped to handle resurrections in a dungeon didn't really make them well equipped for it. Maybe they were just nervous about performing such things? Either way, the body was here now, no use dwelling on it.
"Ah, no, I do appreciate when people do bother to bring up the gore, thank you for that!" The elf said, bending over and inspecting the body a bit more closely. "... It makes things easier, most of the time." She glanced at the man's hands, what a good reminder those served. Melhera turned and walked behind the desk in the room, bending over as she began rummaging around the disorganized mess for some leather gloves. A few knickknacks—a compass, some quills, and small pocket book—fell to the floor as she opened overstuffed cabinets.
"Oh, you'll need to fill out some paperwork if you don't mind, it's on the desk here," The elf said, tapping the top of the desk as she looked. "Nothing fancy, just your name, their name if you know it, and where you found them... honestly I have no idea who really looks at it, I surely don't. I think it's all just to justify us doing this for free, placating pencil pushers and all that, you know how it is." Melhera finally procured a full pair of leather gloves from the drawer and rose from behind the desk, pulling on the gloves on with a flourish. "Ah! Finally. Also, it's not in the paperwork, but will you be waiting around for them?"
"And ah.. I apologize, I'm bad with names, but I've seen your face before, I believe. You are, again?"

Re: [NPC REQ] The Usual
The tall-man stared quietly as she worked, fidgeting with the hem of his shirt and his own hands with nervous energy. He still didn't know what to do in the time it took for her to do her job, even if he had already been here a few times, he looked at the small objects on the floor and began asking himself if he should help clean up when he heard her question and perked up.
"Huh...? Oh yeah I remember" He stood up from his crouched position and nodded, even if she wasn't looking at him at the moment. He reached for the quill but stopped mid-way, frowning and wiping his dirty hands more insistently on his clothes.
"Um, yeah, I am. I need to uh... help them get back down to where we were" He muttered the last part, shame creeping back into his tone at the reminder of his reckless actions. He finally got hold of the quill and began filling out the form quickly, the new question came right as he was done writing his name.
"'S alright, I'm Nath" He blinked down at the word and realized it looked different than what he said "N-Nathaniel, that is. I was here just two weeks ago actually"

Re: [NPC REQ] The Usual
Melhera sighed. It wasn't a good idea to rush down again so soon after being revived, but it wasn't her place to say.
"Your healer is lucky that I don't have a backlog. They should probably learn how to do this themselves, though," the elf said as she walked back over to the body bag. She peered down again, there probably was enough gore here to do a decent job, but who's to say? But it's not like she has any fresh meat to work with here, so hopefully the spirits would be satisfied enough.
Melhera finally knelt down and tried to begin rearranging the attached limbs of victim into a more neutral position, realizing that they were stiff. Ah, of course. She sighed, if the man didn't seem insistent on getting back to it right way she would much rather wait and work with a body that wasn't in rigor mortis.
"I'll try to remember your name, but hopefully I don't see you so often that it sticks!" She laughed. Her tone then turned gravely serious, but a smile still lingered on her face. "Are you sure you need to go down immediately? This person will really be in no condition to do much work at all until they get a decent meal and some sleep, and it's much easier on the person being revived if I can position them correctly." She sighed.
"I mean, I could do it, I do mean it's possible to get both of you up and running while sore and exhausted and right out that door, having the whole thing happen again or even worse, or I could just write a note with a body number for you to take back down instead. I'm fine with taking the heat if it means this person wouldn't be sent right back into the oven." There was a small glimmer in her eye as she spoke next. "Or, if you'd really like, I can give you two pieces of paper with two separate numbers to be collected at your leisure, say after someone has had a chance to get some sleep and food in them? Because who's to say you didn't accidentally slip on a piece of gore as soon as you entered the door, cracking your own head wide open onto the floor? Or had a newly revived corpse attack you to death, having mistook you for someone else?" She shrugged. "Surely I couldn't, I was half asleep when you walked in."

Re: [NPC REQ] The Usual
The man blinked a few times, the gears in his head turning until the offer fully registered. That sure sounded tempting, he was tired and a bit out of it, surely he could slink away for a day and go back down tomorrow? But his current party was small, he was only one of two fighters and while he knew the dwarven man he left with his healer was skilled, he couldn't help but worry about those who were smaller than him. In the end he simply sighed deeply and shook his head.
"No no, thank you but I don't think I should stay, at the very least I need to go grab their stuff and bring it back to them. You're right though, I think it's best if they stay and rest a bit" He continued filling in the forms, already on the last lines of the page "But I... really appreciate it" He gave the elf a small smile as he set down the quill.

Re: [NPC REQ] The Usual
Melhera offered a weak smile towards the man as she gingerly grasped the paperwork he had just finished filling out while Melhera also delicately grabbed the quill that Nathaniel had placed down with her other hand. Without bothering to look at the details that the tall-man had written it she placed the parchment from Nathaniel onto the desk and then hastily ripped off of a portion of a tri-perforated sheet from atop a different stack.
She scribbled down something onto the sheet she had just ripped off, then looked back towards the body, and then back towards the paper a few time to confirm the details. When the elf finished she made sure to blow on it and wave it around to make sure the ink set just a bit quicker. She also grabbed two other small sheets of paper—these much more crude, and wrote the number of the body atop of this one before sliding one into the body bag and one under the foot of it.
"Well, here you are," Melhera said, waving the paper as she walked back towards the tall-man to help ensure it was at least a bit more dry before handing it off to Nathaniel. "Some of the details are missing here, but all you really need is the body number." She pointed at the relevant details on the thin sheet of paper as she spoke. "I also included a note that this corpse needs to be revived after some time has passed and wouldn't be ready to descend again right away, so if anyone in your party has any issues with that they can come talk to me directly—And I'm quite serious about that! And oh! Don't worry, I won't move them out of this room. They should be up to fighting shape... eeeh... soon... Let me worry about that, alright?"
Melhera inhaled deeply before dragging the corpse over to one of the lower shelves, doing her best to shuffle the body bag onto the slab. When she managed to do so she wiped her brow. Maybe she really did need to start working out. The elf ran a hand through her hair, letting out an elongated exhale before cracking her neck. She sighed in relief.
"Oh! There's some spare body bags if you need them in the corner there. We try to keep spares for this exact reason. But otherwise I should be good here. Feel free to grab whatever gear you need off of them, just try not to disturb the corpse too much," Melhera sighed deeply before continuing. "It's always hustle and bustle these days... I do miss when things were a bit quieter. It was easier to get in my naps!" The elf laughed. "Such is the price of progress!" Melhera laughed as she cracked her back a few times for good measure.
"There's a few sticks of jerky in a jar somewhere in here, please feel free to help yourself," Melhera smiled, although she did look rather drained. "... You seem rather kind, so please, come back anytime you need some free lodging. You'd be surprised on what goes unnoticed on the top shelves!" She let out a hearty laugh. "Take care of yourself, you hear?"
