Takiko

Post by Takiko »

Name:
Takiko

Race:
Ogre

Age:
22

Appearance:
178cm (5'10")
Smaller in stature than even some tall-men, Takiko wouldn't look much like an ogre if it wasn't for their fangs and horns. They were renowned for their beauty back in the Eastern Archipelago, the family who owned them showing it off at ceremonies and to guests of the estate. It is common for people to be confused about Takiko's gender, but they don't really acknowledge that sort of thing, so most just make a guess and stick with it.

Skills:
Debatable by many whether its a skill or a weakness, Takiko's chaotic nature and willingness to throw themselves into danger can be scary to see but often give the results needed in dangerous encounters. They don't have any formal training and rarely use weapons - improvising some when needed - instead choosing to use their overwhelming strength to beat down threats with just their fists and dirty fight tactics. They are courageous hardly ever backing down from a fight and - even if it is just an excuse to kill something - will jump into peril in order to save a comrade. Due to their upbringing as an ornament to their family, Takiko was not able to learn many skills and as such is constantly trying to learn. They are a sponge that will soak up information, but they are also a sponge that will yell that they know what they're doing whenever someone attempts to explain something to them.

Personality:
Takiko has already garnered a reputation around the island as a hired muscle who is stronger and wilder than one would think upon first glance. They are a competent fighter however they are also known to be rude, crass, overbearing, and quick to jump into danger which can be hard to work with. It seems almost as if nothing can break them - constantly beaming with positivity and confidence - however they are an unstable person and that wall can't stay up forever. Living a life of silent obedience before, Takiko feels as if they can run freely on the island now being able to make up for the many years of repressed energy and anger with no regards for others. They don't care who they're hired by or for what reason as long as they get to have fun and make money in the process.

Background:

TW// CHILD NEGLECT AND ABUSE
Takiko has no memory of their family or clan, nor have they ever seen an ogre before. They were bought by a rich and powerful family in the eastern archipelago but they do not know much about how or where they were able to be obtained. All they know is the stories their family tell to others in regards to how they were given their name; the family would reminisce how beautiful of a child they were and joke how they thought Takiko looked almost like a doll. They wished they could be the perfect ornament the family wanted them to be, but none of it felt right. Being dressed and made up caused them to want to rip off their skin, long dinners and ceremonies made them antsy, being silent and respectful to everyone was an impossible task. Takiko was the farthest thing from a doll, but the role would be mentally beaten into them for all their life.

It wasn’t long before Takiko realized they were different from the other children of the family. The others were usually left to their own, disobedience was met with a sharp and direct response, and crying fits were waited on patiently. Takiko, however, was to always follow strict orders by the master of the house which – when not getting ready to be brought out in public or serving guests – meant staying in their quarters or being called down to eat with the family. If they were to do anything seen as out of line, they would be swiftly punished which meant – depending on the severity – they would be threatened, demeaned, or beaten with it ultimately ending in them being locked in their quarters for the rest of the day and night.

The family’s misunderstanding of ogres was what ultimately lead to a lot of Takiko’s disobedience. They would get the same portions for meals that everyone else had, but ogres have a voracious appetite and Takiko was never satiated. They would be caught stealing others’ food as well as sneaking into the kitchen to grab anything they could in a desperate state of hunger. They would be punished accordingly with a day of staying in their quarters and no food. The malnutrition caused Takiko’s growth to be stunted with them being smaller and weaker than most other ogres, but the family did not see the issue. In their eyes it was lucky for them to have gotten an ogre who did not grow into a giant brute. Takiko eventually learned to ignore the hunger or sneak food in ways they believed no one would get mad over. During times they were able to wander the grounds they would sometimes search for bugs, small rodents, or birds to eat in secret. It was revolting, but sometimes the pangs in their stomach were too much to bear.
Once when they were little, one of the children of the family begged to play with Takiko and their guardian accepted after being worn down. Takiko was excited to be able to play for once, but they did not know the amount of strength they had over tall-men. It was not long before they severely injured one of the family’s own during their play. Takiko was forbidden from ever interacting with the children or being around them at all outside of meals and the family took extra cautionary measures. The night of, multiple guards held Takiko down and ripped out one of their fangs while they wailed in pain and apologies bleated out from their forced open mouth. The gap left there is a constant reminder of what Takiko did and they feel deep shame every time they see or run their tongue over it.

Life went on like this for years. Takiko got more and more passive: they did exactly as they were told, they no longer fought, and they stayed perfectly still and silent during ceremonies. They grew to fear their family, the prospect of painfully bearing another mark of shame caused them to forcefully shut down completely to avoid disobedience.

(Okay I still haven’t decided how it happens yet but Takiko does something – whether benign or serious – that makes them fear they’ll be punished severely in the same way they were before. In a moment of panic they decide to run and eventually they make their way to the island and becomes hired muscle for dungeon divers)

anyways here's a cute, happy takiko by ren :)
